WebOnlyPiano is pleased to announce that our Solo Piano recordings are now available in the original legacy Yamaha Disklavier and PianoDisc floppy disc formats.

This means that those of you that still have those original floppy disc systems may now enjoy our premium WebOnlyPiano solo piano recordings. Unfortunately, you are limited to solo piano recordings (and not our full piano with audio/orchestral accompaniment discs) since it would require a CD player. (For a detailed explanation of why this is the case, click here.)

By the way — the exciting news is that WebOnlyPiano will soon be offering an iPad application that will allow you floppy disc uses to connect your current player system to the iPad and play the full WebOnlyPiano audio+piano content!

In the meantime, here is a list of our solo piano titles that are available on your legacy Yamaha Disklavier or PianoDisc floppys. Simply click on the individual title to go to that product detail page, or click here to go to the store area that displays all of the titles at once.

Even though it’s early (by our standards, at least), we wanted to let you know about our great Christmas products that are not yet available on our website.

There are 3 that are ready to go . . . some of you might already have A Shiny New Christmas, Holiday Classics, and Joy To The World.

A Shiny New Christmas is a wonderful collection of pop holiday songs and traditional carols, performed by an 8-voice, Manhattan Transfer-type singing group and orchestra. Songs include The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Sleigh Ride, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Caroling, Caroling. Holiday Classics features Ed Vodicka at the piano, along with holiday bells, performing warm, cozy versions of pop holiday favorites such as The Christmas Song, Christmas Time Is Here, White Christmas, and The First Snowfall Of The Winter. Ed is again spotlighted in Joy To The World – a traditional, reverent treatment of tradition Christmas Carols such as Angels We Have Heard On High, Away In A Manger, O Come All Ye Faithful and Silent Night, performed by solo piano and chimes.

New titles this season include A Jazzy Christmas, Christmas Organ and Chimes, and our exciting Christmas Caroling Songbook in conjunction with our friends at Hal Leonard Publishing. The latter includes 72 carols and songs complete with caroling book and sing-a-long accompaniment discs — four in all. Just wait till you see and hear it!

We’ll get samples posted soon. If you would like email notifications as soon as these products are available, email us at Customer.Service@webonlypiano.com and we’ll put you on the list!

WebOnlyPiano is proud to have teamed up with Heritage Music Press in order to offer this celebrated course. Each learning level includes a lesson book, theory book, and an ultra-high quality play-along accompaniment disc (included in the back of the lesson book). The play along disc is available in all the popular player-piano formats: Pianomation, PianoDisc, Disklavier and our own WebOnly format (Roland, Wyman, Pianoforce and others), as well as on standard midi 3.5″” midi floppies and audio only compact discs. For each lesson that has
a play along track, there is a small disc symbol at the bottom of the page.

The player-piano and audio formats feature two tracks for each lesson –
one track at performance tempo and one track at practice tempo. The floppy discs
have only one track for each lesson and the tempo can be adjusted as the student
wishes.

What is so interesting is that while Piano Discoveries was designed for
youngsters, adults have been enjoying it equally as well! In the “early books”
you’ll see cartoons and play simple melodies (some that are actually “finger
exercises” with a theme), but you’ll be playing them with fun, exciting, fully
orchestrated accompaniment tracks! What an idea! Instead of practicing with an
old-fashioned metronome, play with a band!

Just put the accompaniment disc in your player piano, and, magically you
have dramatic, or whimsical, or elegant or rockin’ tracks to play with. And the
Piano Discoveries course takes you every step of the way!

What is so dramatic about WebOnlyPiano Discoveries is that not only do you
get exciting accompaniment tracks to play with — but the keys on your piano
will move to show you what to play! It is the ULTIMATE visual/aural teaching
tool!

accompaniment track as well as sample page pdfs from each book.

This page helps with choosing the correct disc format for your piano.

In general, we offer music for three different types of “delivery systems.” They are:

Modern Player Pianos with moving keys (click here for a detailed explanation)

Digital or “electronic” pianos that play “General Midi” or “Standard Midi” files (click here for a detailed explanation)

Traditional Audio that you play in your home or car stereo or personal music player.

Number 3, Tradition Audio is pretty simple. You know what that is.

The first two, however, can be a source of confusion. So in order to clarify theexact typeof disc you need for your piano, here are further details.

To start, let’s talk aboutwhat you need if you have a moving key player piano. This usually means the following:

Your instrument is an acoustic grand (or possibly upright) piano. It has strings. And hammers. And you should have it tuned regularly. You know — a “real” piano. There a few slight exceptions to this. The Roland, Suzuki, and Kohler Digital piano companies have all made beautiful digital pianos that are totally electronic, but usually shaped like small grand pianos, and have moving keys. They play just like the big acoustic grands. If you have one of these Digital Player Pianos, keep reading here. If you have one of those brands but they don’t have “moving keys” (i.e. the keys go up and down) go on to the General Midi area.

If you have an grand with a player system installed, it will be one of the following:

Yamaha Disklavier — The “Disklavier” player system by Yamaha is only available as a factory installed option on Yamaha Pianos. VERY IMPORTANT: You mayhave a Yamaha Piano with another brand of player system installed on it (such as PianoDisc, Pianomation or PianoForce) but you CANNOT have a “Disklavier” system installed on anything but a Yamaha Piano.

NOW — If you have a Yamaha Disklavier System, it can play recordings three different ways (technically more, but all you need to know here is three):

The ORIGINAL Disklavier System dates back to the 1980s, and uses proprietary, “legacy” floppy discs. If you have this system, select “Yamaha Disklavier Legacy Floppy” from the format menu as you order each album.

Later Disklavier systems have updated drives (still floppies) that play “General Midi” files. Your Disklavier player will have a large “GM” logo on the front somewhere showing you it plays General Midi files. If you have this type, we suggest utilzing the “General Midi Floppy” from the “Format” menu. It uses more modern, durable discs, and may utilize other orchestral “synthesizer” sounds found in your player unit such as bells or chimes or other instruments.

The most modern disc format for the Disklavier is the CD or compact disc. Select ”Yamaha Disklavier CD” from the Format menu. This is the most versatile format for the Disklavier, synchronizing the piano playback with full digital audio such as singers, bands or orchestras.

Click here for a future list of Disklavier Model Numbers and format compatibilities

PianoDisc is a popular brand that dates back to the 1980s as well. It is installed on any brand of acoustic piano. Since it goes all the way back, it has utilized three different types of deliver as well:

Original “Legacy Floppy.” If you have a system such as a PD128, ”PianoDisc Legacy Floppy” from the format menu as you order each album. These are specially formatted, older-style floppies.

General Midi Floppy. The next generation of PianoDisc systems played General Midi Floppy Discs. Check your player unit to see if it features the “GM” logo on its front panel. If you have this type, we suggest utilzing the “General Midi Floppy” from the “Format” menu. It uses more modern, durable discs, and may utilize other orchestral “synthesizer” sounds found in your player unit such as bells or chimes or other instruments.

The most modern disc format for the PianoDisc system is the CD or compact disc. Select “PianoDisc CD” from the Format menu. This is the most versatile format for the PianoDisc, synchronizing the piano playback with full digital audio such as singers, bands or orchestras.

For your further information, you may appreciate reading our article on the “types of recordings and delivery systems offered by player piano manufacturers” by clicking this link.

Our catalog is divided into three major types:

Albums for a Moving Key player piano

Albums for a General Midi digital piano

Albums for a standard audio CD player

If you have a Moving Key player piano system, it is going to be branded with one of the following:

PianoDisc

Yamaha Disklavier

QRS Pianomation

PianoForce

Roland Digital Grand (with moving keys)

Suzuki Digital Grand (with moving keys)

Kohler Digital Grand (with moving keys)

Baldwin Concertmaster

If you have what is referred to as a Digital Piano, you will be looking for General Midi products. Some popular brands are Roland, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kurzweil, Techniques, Korg, Casio and many more.

If you simply would like a copy of one of our albums in a standard audio CD format, this link is for you. They do not interact with your piano at all, and just require a regular CD player.
